The draft plans from Davidsons, the prospective developer of the 'Fields to the East of Willoughby Road', were put on display in Countesthorpe College 16th of December. Representatives of the Davidsons were on hand to answer questions. Response forms were handed out with requests that they be filled in and handed back. It was thought, however, particularly by members who had been affected by the planning application for houses on Leicester Road that any comments given at this stage would be 'Showing our hand'. In response to a request by the Secretary, Davidsons have kindly provided copies of their two display boards in PDF format. These are available from the links below. |

Developer's Display - Board 2
The files are quite large and may take some time to load particularly if you are on a 'dial up' connection.
Note: What is not shown on the display is access through Glebe drive. The Church's Land Agents are adamant that such access is a requirement for emergency vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, utilities and pipes. Davidsons' repesentatives denied all knowlege of any such requirement but close inspection of Display Board 1 finds the sentence "Pedestrian/cycle links to Willoughby Road connecting to the village centre". At first sight this looks like it means pedestrians and cyclists will have access to Willoghby Road from where they can access the Centre via Cosby/Station Road. Well of course they would have access that way; it's the road access to the estate. Reflection on this and the Land agent's assertions give rise to the only possble interpretation; that there is to be another link between Willoughby Road and the Centre i.e. across the current hay field and along Glebe Drive.
