The 12th September started out misty with a very Autumnal feel to it but it was lovely to be down on the allotments early for setting up. The mist soon cleared and the day became progressively hotter. I was gorgeous weather for the show with not a cloud in the sky all afternoon. In spite of the awful wet season in July and August and the fact that we were holding the show later than previously, there were plenty of produce entries. The first arrived at about eleven o'clock and there was the usual edge of competitiveness beginning to show.

The quality of entries was once again very high especially in the onions and leeks. The winning marrow entry was, of course, once again magnificent. (The winning potatoes were magnificent too and it can be reported that they were consumed with gusto at a family barbeque in the evening.) Following the judging, presentations and raffle the afternoon was rounded off with an auction of donated produce entries.

As always the quality (and quantity) of the dishes provided by members was superb and a great afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Once again thanks go to:

  • Bob and Christine whose energy and vision drove the concept.
  • Keith for taking control of the 'project'.
  • Fiona for the Show program and colouring competition.
  • Other members of the committee for their efforts to make the vision a reality.
  • Special thanks go to Norman for the onerous task of judging and also presenting the Bazeley cup for most improved allotment.
  • Those other helpers particularly Barbara for making the bunting and blowing up the balloons.
  • Margaret and Joyce for helping with the drinks
  • All who donated prizes.
  • All who spent hours over hot stoves to povide the food.
  • Chris for making and donating the winner's rosettes and certificates.

Finally thanks go to all who participated and made the event great success it was.
