Compost Toilet Foundations

The Countesthorpe Gardens and Allotment Society recently had approval for a Community Grant Scheme by Blaby District council. The grant has been approved for the society to purchase a compost toilet, which will increase the facilities for such things as social events and possible open days.

Over the weekend, a great team of volunteers wielded their shovels and started digging out the foundations for the new compost toilet! Thank you to all of those that helped out, it has made a great start to beating the deadline!

Once the foundations are built, the Eco Composting Timber Toilet by Dunster House will be purchased and installed ready for the season ahead.

Do you have the skills or time to get involved with the day to day running of the allotment site? Keep an eye out on future communications where you will have the opportunity to volunteer for various tasks that the committee members currently undertake. Examples of these tasks include cutting the communal grass, trimming the hedges, maintaining the community orchard and equipment maintenance.
