There was a great turn out yesterday for the heaviest pumpkin competition. A crowd gathered around the tables outside of plot 32, with Gill’s homemade spiced pumpkin soup, fizzy pop and beer, excitedly awaiting the weigh in of the heaviest pumpkins! Up first was the Giant Atlantic/Mammoth category! Entered by Karen & Alan Wilson with Granddaughter Isla plot 24, Carole & David Troake plot D and David Millar & Family plot 50.
The results of this category are:
1st Place – Carole & David Troake plot D with a whopping beast of a size at 75kg!
2nd Place – Karen & Alan Wilson with Granddaughter Isla plot 24 with 28.4kg!
3rd Place – David Millar & Family plot 50 with 16.8kg

At the start of the event, there was a guess the weight of the ugly pumpkin competition . All attendees were asked to guess the weight of the pumpkin in KGs and the closest weight won. The winner of this competition was Andy & Val Grant (U3A) plot 5A who guessed the nearest at 5.2kg the actual weight was 5kg.

In addition to the ugly pumpkin, all attendees guessed the weight of the biggest giant Atlantic before it was weighed. The winner of this competition was Leanne Chapman & Family Plot A who guessed the nearest at 60kg!
Next up was the Normal Halloween Pumpkins! Entered by Oli Emmerson, plot 44, Karen & Alan Wilson with Granddaughter Isla, Plot 24, David Millar & Family, Plot 50 and Andy Watson, Plot 16.
The results of this category are:
1st Place – Oli Emmerson with 8.78kg
2nd Place – David Millar and Family with 8.77kg
3rd Place – Karen & Alan Wilson with Granddaughter Isla with 7.02kg
